Democracy and Sharing

Democracy is an important value at our school. Each class votes democratically for a Pupil Voice representative. This means that pupils’ concerns are shared at regular meetings and via projects developed by pupils.

Following whole school Collective Worship, pupils are encouraged to report on political news, investigate local politics, research and take part in class elections when relevant votes are taking place in the news and write to local or country wide politicians to raise issues they deem important.

Children are taught that they can show these values by:

  • Sharing equipment and resources with everyone in your group (not keeping them all to yourself)
  • Including everyone in your games
  • Picking fair teams
  • Listening to other peoples opinions when making decisions
  • Putting things to a vote when there are different ideas
  • Taking turns when doing an activity
