Maths

Our mathematics curriculum is fully aligned with the National Curriculum and is designed to develop fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills for all pupils, including those with SEND. Learning is carefully sequenced so that new knowledge builds on prior understanding and deepens over time.

Teaching follows a concrete, pictorial and abstract (CPA) approach, using practical resources, visual models and formal written methods to support secure conceptual understanding and accessibility for all learners. Adaptive teaching is central to our approach, with manipulatives, visual supports and scaffolding used to meet individual needs and promote precise mathematical language and reasoning.

Problem solving is embedded throughout the curriculum, encouraging pupils to apply their knowledge in a range of contexts and develop confidence and resilience when tackling challenge.

In Early Years and Key Stage 1, the Mastering Number programme and NumBots support the development of strong number sense and fluency through practical experiences. In Key Stage 2, pupils build fluency and automaticity in multiplication and division, supported by Times Tables Rock Stars to enable success in more complex mathematics.
