The day finally arrived and we all set off on the coaches to East Barnby.

We arrived in good time to have a quick tour of the facility and find out where all the important buildings were situated.

After settling into dorms and getting to grips with duvets, sheets and pillow covers, we had a light sandwich lunch and departed the centre for one of two afternoon activities. Namely, beach combing or body boarding. Unsurprisingly, body boarding involves plunging straight into the frigid North Sea - thank goodness for the wetsuits that we struggled into.

Dinner was served at 5.15 or 6.00 depending on sitting and offered pasta with a choice, for most, of bolognese sauce or tasty chicken and leek. A delightfully light and fluffy iced sponge pudding and custard provided pudding. Fresh salad and fruit were also available.

Our evening activities started with a good tidy up in the dorms. It was surprising how many badly made beds would otherwise have been waiting for their tired tenants. As a well deserved reward for the excellent behaviour and attitude shown by all, we then opened the tuck and souvenir shop.

Before hot chocolate and bed, there was still time for an active game hunting aliens all around the East Barnby site.

Roll on tomorrow, it is going to be great!
