Year 5 Camp

Despite a stormy start, our Year 5 campers threw themselves into a whirlwind of activity at Wyse House Campsite, just north of Malton.
They enjoyed shelter building and geocaching along with other important survival skills. Each group also got involved in camp cooking their own tea.
A highlight, each evening, was a visit from Ötzi, the Iceman. Our camp leader and outdoor expert, Wolf, dressed up as Ötzi and told us about the surprising discovery of Europe’s oldest natural mummy. He demonstrated a whole range of Ötzi’s Stone Age survival gear; each and every item a carefully made replica using only tools and techniques that would have been available to the ancient traveller.
