Provision

Our Satellite Class is an inclusive space specifically designed and equipped to support children with a range of communication needs.

These needs can include children with a diagnosis of autism, speech and language difficulties or children who present with challenges in their social interactions. The provision is needs led not diagnosis led.

In addition to their Education and Health Care plan, each child will have a personalised timetable and educational program both within their mainstream class and the Satellite Classroom. This will be agreed with staff and parents and will depend on child’s needs and adapt as the child develops.

The Satellite Class is situated at the heart of the school and comprises of a main class space, an intervention area, a sensory room (coming soon), a meeting room and a safe outdoor space. It is accessible from the main school entrance on the Grove Street site.

Who will benefit from our Satellite Class?

  • Pupils with an Education and Health Care plan (EHCP) and a primary need of Communication & Interaction
  • Pupils who have difficulty accessing mainstream classrooms without significant support.
  • Pupils who can access mainstream national curriculum (with adaptions in place)
  • Pupils who are able to follow class routines & adult direction with support
  • Pupils who can work alongside other children
  • Pupils who are working at age-related expectations but may have some areas of difficulty (a spikey profile) due to C&I needs.
