Vision

Our vision is that children placed in our Satellite Class will be very much part of the whole school.

They will be supported to be integrated members of a mainstream class and a part of our Norton family.

How will the Satellite benefit my child?

  • Small group learning pitched at the appropriate level of understanding and learning.

  • Specific support and interventions linked to their EHCP outcomes threaded throughout each day.

  • Access to mainstream classes for subjects they can access.

  • Support from professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapy and education psychologists.

  • Own classroom base (shared with up to 7 other pupils).

  • Flexible timetable to support specific barriers to learning.

  • Breakout spaces for movement breaks

  • Sensory support and access to sensory room (when completed).

  • Priority focus on developing communication and social skills to enable success in a variety of social or educational situations.

How are places allocated?

The Local Authority is responsible for allocating places as what is known as Targeted Mainstream Provision. This would usually occur as part of an annual review cycle for a child already with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or as part of the statutory process known as EHCAR (Education Health and Care Assessment Request).
