Cookie Policy

This is the Cookie Policy for our website, accessible from https://norton-pri.n-yorks.sch.uk.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are tiny files that are downloaded to your computer. They are used to enable our site to remember certain things about your current visit. Remembering these things helps to make your experience better.

How We Use Cookies

Most of our website does not use cookies and disabling cookies will not prevent you from accessing most of the information provided here. We use a small number of third party cookies and our own cookies for different specific purposes.

We set cookies if, and only if, you choose to log in on our App Links and Logins pages. This is to remember that you are logged in. It prevents you from having to log in every single time you visit a new page in that part of our website. Our cookies are removed or cleared when you log out or close your browser session.

Members of staff are able to log in with their school Microsoft ID. When logging in this way, additional cookies are be set by Microsoft. If you choose to ‘Stay logged in’, with your Microsoft ID (or have chosen this feature when logging in to a different Microsoft service), the cookies will not be cleared when you log out of our pages. Please refer to Micosoft’s privacy statement, if you have concerns. There is a section on cookies within.

Third party cookies

We use third party cookies, from trusted service providers, as follows.

  • To operate the ‘Log in with Microsoft’ feature of our App Links and Logins pages, as described above.
  • To remember the Google Translate language setting at the bottom of the page if, and only if, you select a language.
  • To remember some of your choices on our electronic forms. The information is used to show you additional parts of the form that depend on your previous choices. When you submit the form to us, the cookies are removed. This service is provided by a product called Microsoft Forms.

We do not use any additional third party cookies that track you or analyse your use of our website.

Disabling Cookies

You can prevent the setting of cookies by adjusting the settings in your browser. Most browsers allow you to do this on a site-by-site basis. Unless you are aware of the implications, we do not recommend that you block all cookies for all websites.
